Ellie Ulvin is the November student of the month at Park Rapids Area High School.

The daughter of Shelly and Tim Ulvin, Ellie has been involved in swimming, basketball, softball, National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, book club and student government.

She plans to attend a four-year college and go into the medical field.

Business teacher Angie Kuehn said, “Ellie is a good student and athlete that always strives to do her absolute best. I am so glad that she joined BPA last year. She has been an excellent addition and was elected by her peers to be the president of the organization this year. She had an excellent swimming season because she is willing to work so hard. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for you, Ellie!”

English teacher Katie Winters said, “Ellie is a wonderful addition to any class. She meets every challenge with determination and will see every task through to its very end. Ellie will do many great things in life, and I have no doubts about her ability to make the world a better place.”

Swimming coach Todd Fritze said, “Ellie is an exceptional student and athlete. It has been fun to watch her grow and mature into a great positive leader. She sets her standards and goals high and works extremely hard to achieve them. She has been a great role model for our younger students/athletes as well as her peers. Congrats Ellie, well deserved.”

English teacher Kerry Johnson said, “I enjoy having Ellie in class. She works hard and truly wants to understand. She can be goofy, and she can be serious; I appreciate that. She always gives it her all, whether it's in the pool or in the classroom. She has a great work ethic, and she leads by example. Congrats.”

Coach Marion Goeden said, “Ellie is a great leader in the softball program. She leads by showing her teammates what it looks like to work really hard and by encouraging every step of the way. Ellis is such a positive student, as evident on her always smiling face. She truly enjoys what she’s involved in. Ellie is very deserving of this award.”

Ulvin told the school board on Nov. 16, “Thank you for the opportunity to be student of the month. It means a lot, the recognition.”
