Within hours Thursday, giant snow cubes were forming in Hubbard after Tim Johanning arrived with a tractor-driven snowblower to "shovel" the white stuff. Jared Johanning, above, used a Cat to load snow into the forms. (Jean Ruzicka / Enterprise)

The snowfall has created a venue for sculptors to create massive works for the Hubbard Prairie Sleigh Festival, to be held Sunday, Feb. 24 in Hubbard. "Artists"are invited to sign up to create a marvel next week, with the works to be judged by Brita Sailer, who will also form a frosty piece. To sign up, call Marie Helfrich at 732-7708 or go to Hubbard Prairie Sleigh on Facebook. The festival, to be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., will include sleigh rides, dog sled rides, a grand parade, music and a play. A trapper encampment will lend to the aura of wintry fun in days gone by.
