Anyone who is interested in joining the Friends of the Library (FOL) organization is invited to attend their next meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4. The group has 52 members and meets the first Thursday of each month to plan fundraisers and events. Dues are $10.

The FOL helps the library in many ways. "Many things wouldn't have happened this year without the support of the Friends," Park Rapids Library Branch Manager Jodi Schultz said. "I am so thankful for the Friends and all they do."

One of the biggest fundraisers by the group is the book sales held in the library basement four times each year. The next book sale is from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11.

Other contributions by the group included a license for movies at the library, Camp Limberjack with Ross Sutter, prizes and judging for the youth and teen writing contest, art and craft supplies for story time projects and prizes for the winter reading project for adults as well as the summer reading programs for youth.
