Knitters, from left, Anne Marg, Kathie Cole, Bonnie Miller, Ann Schultz, Pat Peterson, Boo Groth and Jacki Swanson, met Thursday at Jackpine Java to begin a knitting project. The group is seeking more knitters to join in ending world hunger. The idea is to collect donations for knitted scarves. The money donated will buy animals that have fleece, through Heifer International, for Third World countries. The goal is to raise $250,000. All finished scarves will also be sent to the needy. So far, 23 women have started knitting and the group is hoping to get up to 50. The deadline to finish scarves is Oct. 13. Those interested in participating may call Boo Groth at 652-2182 to sign up.
