Downtown PR will welcome trick-or-treaters Oct. 30

This year’s Trick or Treat Downtown Park Rapids will be held Saturday, Oct. 30 from 3 to 5 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Park Rapids Downtown Business Association (DBA) and will once again be a door-to-door event.

Trick-or-treaters are invited to walk through downtown Park Rapids Saturday, Oct. 30 collecting goodies at area businesses.

Most businesses plan to hand out treats on the sidewalk in front of their building. Children should bring their own bag or container to collect the treats.

DBA president Sally Wizik Wills said since Halloween falls on a Sunday this year, when some businesses are not open, the DBA decided to move it up a day and host it on Saturday instead.

Last year, candy was handed out at one spot downtown following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) pandemic guidelines at the time that classified trick-or-treating as a high-risk activity.

This year’s CDC guidelines say trick-or-treating outdoors is a relatively safe activity, but recommend going in small groups and avoiding indoor parties.
