Park Rapids Pack 58 held a roundup event Tuesday to sign up new Cub Scouts.

Meeting at St. Johns Lutheran Church, children and their parents opened by reciting the pledge to the flag and the Cub Scout oath and code.

While Cubmaster Dustin Lof discussed membership in the Pack with parents, the children then moved outside for an activity led by Boy Scout Troop 58 Scoutmaster David “Peewee” Zinniel and Boy Scouts Jacob Lof and Isaac Zinniel.

The children made paper “stomp rockets” and launched them by stomping on plastic pop bottles connected to a contraption made of PVC pipe. Several of the rockets soared higher than the tops of the tall trees lining the edge of the church property.
