The interactive, 45-minute show aims to “bring young children and books together,” said Jodi Schulz, head librarian for the Park Rapids Area Library, which sponsored the Legacy-funded event. “Once Upon a Reader” is a statewide program designed to promote literacy among preschoolers. LaRochelle and Wohnoutka’s performance included an enthusiastic reading of “Moo!,” a puppet show starring Cow (at right) and writing a story together as a group. They author/illustrator team began traveling one year ago and will visit 59 libraries across Minnesota. They collaborated on the children’s book, “Moo!,” which won the 2014 Minnesota Book Award in Children’s Literature. Both are Minnesota residents.
