Local chapter will be serving birthday cake between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14 at Bella Caffe.

Over the last eight weeks, League of Women Voters (LWV) Park Rapids, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, has been providing voters with information on why our elections are secure, ways to vote early, how to register before Election Day, how to deal with misinformation about voter security and how to evaluate the news you are hearing about elections.

Minnesotans can be proud that ours is the No. 1 state for voter turnout and no widespread irregularities in our voting have been found.
While Minnesota offers the ability to register on Election Day, as a voter you might save time and some stress if you are registered before you go to your polling place.
The free event is open to the public. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Menahga High School media center.
The first day to request an absentee ballot was Sept. 23 and the last day is one day before the general election, Nov. 7.

Four candidates are running for three seats on the school board in the Nov. 8 election.
The Park Rapids Area League of Women Voters held a candidate forum on Monday, Sept. 27 for city council candidates.
All candidates who file for Park Rapids School Board, Hubbard County Commissioner Dist. 3 and Park Rapids City Council have been invited to participate in the forums.
