Kari Tomperi is the new Executive Director of HAPA. She replaces Tina
Peterson who will continue to handle the Pre-Foreclosure Counseling programs.
Tomperi is a graduate of Moorhead State University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Criminal Justice (Sociology Core) and Political Science. She recently enrolled in the Detroit Lakes Minnesota State and Technical College Business Entrepreneurship program taking courses in Principles of Management, Business Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics, Business Communications and Business Accounting.
Tomperi has many years of experience in a wide variety of occupations that give her key insights into the broad range of HAPA’s
programs.  She has been a business owner, a Township Clerk, a Quality Assurance Engineer, a Water Resource Technician, a President and founding member of an investment club, and most recently worked at Cupkie’s Accounting and Tax Preparation office learning tax filing and the QuickBooks accounting program.
While employed at the Wadena Soil and Water Conservation District, the SWCD was awarded the Minnesota Waters Volunteer Coordinator of the year in 2006 because Tomperi coordinated and worked well with many citizen volunteers in Wadena, Hubbard, and Becker County’s and initiated the first citizen based mussel surveys in Minnesota.
HAPA is a non-profit organization created in 2003 to fill a gap in financial literacy education. HAPA is based out of Park Rapids but works with many individuals in a multi-county area. Tomperi is active in her local community in a broad range of organizations and looks forward to expanding her presence in the HAPA community.
