Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota welcomes Heather Czywczynski, NP, to the bone health team at the Sanford Bemidji Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Center.
Heather, earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and her Masters of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. She is board certified by the American Board of Nurse Practitioners.
Before joining Sanford Health, Heather worked as a registered nurse in critical care, surgical/trauma, critical care and emergency medicine at several locations throughout the U.S. including California; Omaha, NE; and Bismarck, ND. Sharing her wealth of experience, she also briefly taught as a clinical teaching instructor at the Creighton University School of Nursing in Omaha, NE, before deciding to further her career and knowledge by becoming a nurse practitioner.
As a family nurse practitioner for the last 10 years with the Coal Country Community Health Center in Hazen, ND, Heather provided care for the local, rural community. During this time, she practiced Family Medicine, emergency medicine, inpatient hospital care and urgent care.
Heather is available for referral specializing in bone health. Her services include diagnosing and treating osteoporosis and osteopenia with medication management, assisting with the prevention of fractures and addressing other orthopedic conditions, such as osteoarthritis and other related injuries.
“My patients are like family,” shared Heather. “With each patient, I strive to foster a relationship where they not only feel comfortable with me as their provider, but they also feel comfortable sharing their concerns and working together to prevent illness and achieve their health goals.”
Outside of her role as a caregiver, Heather is married and enjoys spending time with her three children and the family dog. When she gets a chance, she also likes reading, hiking, biking, baking and playing the piano.
