Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota welcomes Gregory Schuchard, MD, FACC, to the interventional cardiology team at the Sanford Bemidji Heart and Vascular Center.
Dr. Schuchard, attended Mankato State University before graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. He attended medical school with the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN.
Gaining valuable, firsthand experience, Dr. Schuchard completed his residency in internal medicine with the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, MN, as well as two fellowships—one in cardiology with the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI, and the other in interventional cardiology with the University of Connecticut in Farmington, CT.
Prior to joining Sanford Health, Dr. Schuchard worked as a part of the Cardiovascular Associates, the Wisconsin Heart & Vascular Clinic and the Schuchard Cardiology Group at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. He also practiced with Prevea Health Clinic at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay, WI, and with St. Paul Cardiology at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
In addition to his practice, Dr. Schuchard is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Doctor’s Mayo Society. He is certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Schuchard is also certified by the Board of Nuclear Cardiology and the American Board of Vascular Medicine.
Sharing his expertise as an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Schuchard will be available by appointment and referral to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease as well as congenital and structural heart conditions through minimally invasive procedures including angioplasty, catheterization, cardiac risk assessment and stenting.
“Though I do this every day, I understand that this may be my patient’s first cardiology appointment or procedure and do my best to provide a personalized experience for each of my patients,” shared Dr. Schuchard. “They are always involved in the decision making process including connecting with other specialists, when needed, to ensure the best level of care possible.”
A native Minnesotan, Dr. Schuchard was born in Luverne, MN, and grew up in Mankato where his father was a schoolteacher and his mother was a retail clerk. Today, he is married to his loving wife and has three adult children. Dr. Schuchard enjoys golfing, reading, hiking in Arizona, spending time with friends and playing with his tri-colored Welsh corgi.
