Arvig accepting 2020 scholarship applications
Arvig is now accepting applications for two scholarships to be awarded to area high school seniors graduating in 2020. The deadline for both scholarship applications is Feb. 21.
FRS/NTCA college scholarship
First, the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) and the Rural Broadband Association (NTCA) are offering a $2,000 college scholarship to high school seniors across rural America. Aarvig is contributing an additional $500, making it a $2,500 award for winners who are sponsored by Aarvig.
To be eligible for the FRS/NTCA scholarship, applicants must be a current senior graduating high school in 2020; be accepted by an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school; have at least a C grade point average; and express an interest in returning to a rural community after graduation.
To be sponsored by Arvig, the applicant must also be from a family that subscribes to at least one residential service from Arvig.
To apply for the scholarship, find the application online at www.frs.org/programs/youth-programs/scholarships. To apply for the Arvig sponsorship, submit a copy of all required application materials to Arvig, c/o Josie Winkels, 150 2nd St. SW, Perham, MN 56573. If selected, applicants will be contacted by Arvig with further instructions.
MTA Foundation scholarship
The Minnesota Telecom Alliance Foundation will award 10 scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 each to high school seniors graduating in 2020.
To be eligible, applicants must be a current senior graduating high school in 2020; be attending post-secondary education at a university, college or technical college; be a Minnesota resident; and be from a family that subscribes to at least one residential service from Arvig.
Applications are available online at www.mnta.org/page/Scholarship. After completing the online application, students need to print a copy and attach the required documentation and submit it to Arvig, c/o Josie Winkels, 150 2nd St. SW, Perham, MN 56573. Arvig will then submit the application to the MTA Foundation on the applicant’s behalf.
