Members, employees and guests of the Itasca-Mantrap and Clearwater-Polk electrical co-ops joined forces May 4 for the annual GreenTouch Day cleanup project at Itasca State Park.
A total of 20 volunteers helped clear bud caps, rake leaves and pine needles, pick up trash and install tree cages. After a morning of park clean-up, the group had lunch, then spent the rest of the day enjoying the park.
GreenTouch Day is celebrated statewide, sponsored by Minnesota's Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, whose donations help fund the DNR's State Park Guide.
Out of seven participating co-ops, 352 volunteers worked 1,169 hours this year. During the past 20 years, more than 10,000 people have worked almost 37,000 hours for the GreenTouch project.
