The Itasca-Mantrap Operation Round Up Trust awarded grants totaling $40,000 to 77 civic projects May 15 at the electrical co-op's office in Park Rapids.
Operation Round Up, a charitable program unique to electric co-ops, is designed to provide financial assistance to non-profit or community-based organizations that demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the Itasca-Mantrap service area. The primary source of funding for the trust is from Itasca-Mantrap members who voluntarily round up their electric bills.
Grant applications totaled more than $91,000 for community projects, but because of limited funding, all requests could not be granted.
The Operation Round Up Trust Board meets twice a year to select grant recipients, based on applications received. The next application deadline is Sept. 16. Official grant application forms are available at the Itasca-Mantrap office and at www.itasca-mantrap.com.
