3M Wonewok assists Hubbard County DAC
A little bit of rain didn't dampen the spirit of 25 volunteers who offered to paint the Hubbard County Developmental Achievement Center (DAC) last week.
3M Wonewok employees arrived at 8 a.m. Sept. 12, and by 1 p.m., they had not only painted three exterior walls, but also awnings and a fence.
3M Wonewok Manager Ed Spiess said his crew does a lot of volunteer work throughout the community.
When they learned about the DAC's need, Spiess said they found an opening in their schedules and "we said, 'Let's do it.'"
Originally, DAC Executive Director Laura Johnson had received a quote of $10,000 from a contractor to put a fresh coat of paint on the building. "Now we only have to pay for paint," she said.
"They provided lunch for our DAC clients," added DAC Designated Manager Debbie Luther. "It was just a treat to get this amount of work done. The person power was amazing."
