Blueberry Festival dishes out anti-oxidants and fun galore

Thousands of people came through Lake George over the weekend for its 28th Annual Blueberry Festival. A Saturday morning thunderstorm caused some damage to a tent; a brief power outage was repaired and the festival quickly rebounded. Above, Julie Kruse paints a smiley face on Bennett Bessler. The children's carnival is a big draw for the little town. This year a record number of bikes - 27 - were given away, said organizer Deb Manz. One of the hits this year was a shish-ke-bob with summer sausage containing meat, blueberries and wild rice, interspersed with bites of string cheese. It was dubbed a "Blue Bear Able." Chain saw carvers Mark Webber and Scott Hendershot were a big hit, carving birds, fish and other items downtown.
