A Better Connection merges with Sanford Health
The clinic on Hollinger Street in Park Rapids will become Sanford Health Park Rapids Behavioral Health Center on Dec. 13.
Sanford Health and A Better Connection, Inc. (ABC) of Park Rapids have closed a deal to merge the two organizations.
According to a Sanford news release, ABC will begin operating as Sanford Health Park Rapids Behavioral Health Center effective Monday, Dec. 13.
The clinic, which opened in 2012, is located at 1009 Hollinger St. in Park Rapids.
“After months of due diligence, we are excited to join forces with ABC to provide and expand behavioral health care services for the Park Rapids community,” shared James Coughenour, senior director of behavioral health services at Sanford Health Bemidji. “ABC programs are critical to the community, and their mental health expertise, paired with Sanford Health’s commitment to quality care close to home, make this partnership a natural step in expanding the community’s behavioral health services together.”
Patients can continue seeing their current providers and taking part in programs and services at their current locations with no interruption in care, the release stated. The facility will provide comprehensive behavioral health and addiction services for individuals, families and groups.
Chemical health intensive outpatient services and assessments.
Child therapeutic services and supports.
Mental health diagnostic assessments.
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.
Somatic experiencing, play therapy, heart math therapy and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.
Services for diagnoses including, but not limited to, eating disorders, bariatric surgery, difficult behaviors, autism spectrum disorders, grief and loss, trauma, domestic violence, personality disorders, chronic pain management, mood disorders, stress management, spiritual counseling and parenting support.
The Park Rapids site will join a behavioral health system that also includes Sanford locations throughout northern Minnesota, including the Sanford Health PrimeWest Residential Support Center in Bemidji, built in 2019 as a voluntary residential treatment facility for adults, and the Sanford Bemidji Behavioral Health Crisis Center, now under construction.
