Scott Muhm, a fisheries specialist with the DNR hatchery in Park Rapids, explains the process of raising 60 million baby walleye. He uses suction to remove dead walleye eggs from a hatching jar. “We treat them daily, and we also siphon a lot because, just like anything else, a few dead eggs will turn rotten and wreck the rest of them,” he said.
