Supporters of the Heartland State Trail project are among those holding their breath in anticipation of a special legislative session being called by Gov. Mark Dayton this week. Funding to complete a Frazee-Detroit Lakes extension to the multi-purpose recreational trail was included in the final version of the bonding bill that went to the House and Senate floors for approval in the waning hours of the session – but legislators’ failure to pass the bill before Sunday night’s deadline has once again left the project in limbo.
