Blake Kahlbough carded a 1-over 73 to earn medalist honors and lead the Mahnomen-Waubun boys golf team to the title at Friday’s Park Rapids Invitational at Headwaters Golf Club. Nathaniel Kahlbough’s runner-up 75 and Hunter Clark’s 78 helped Mahnomen to a 312 to top the 14-team field. Sam Eystad and Matt Bade earned their first varsity victories in leading the Park Rapids baseball team to a Mid-State Conference doubleheader sweep over Crosby-Ironton last Tuesday. Haley Wiebolt went 6 for 8 to pace a 25-hit attack as Pequot Lakes swept a Mid-State Conference doubleheader from the Park Rapids fastpitch softball team Thursday. Kathryn Niska threw a three-hitter and struck out 11 in leading the Patriots to a 7-2 win the first game while a 15-hit attack sparked Pequot Lakes to a 12-4 victory in the second game. In the first game, the Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Carly Waggoner walked and scored on bunt singles by Nikki Eischens and Sarena Kinkel.
