The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will begin herbicide treatment on select state lands in the Park Rapids Forestry Administrative Area to improve reforestation efforts. Treatments will begin now through approximately Sept. 15 for site preparation. Six sites for about 150 acres will be treated along with some mechanical site preparation for spring tree planting.
Five young people were injured, two seriously, when a side-by-side ATV rolled over near Bass Lake in Shell Lake Township Monday morning.A 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl were airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, according to the Becker County Sheriff's Office.
On Wednesday, May 24 at approximately 5:30 p.m. the Park Rapids Police Department and the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an SUV that had crashed into the front entrance of the Hugo's Grocery Store. According to the Park Rapids Police Department, the adult male driver appeared to have accidentally hit the accelerator rather than the brake pedal. The vehicle ran into the building nearly striking several pedestrians who were leaving and entering the store. No pedestrians were struck or injuries reported.
The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office is looking for information on a suspicious female in the Park Rapids area. The female has been going to homes and asking for directions.
