Labor Day weekend was record-setting in Minnesota. Preliminary reports show no fatal crashes during the Labor Day holiday weekend (6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29 through 5:59 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2). This is the first time since Minnesota started collecting crash data in 1970 that nobody has died from a traffic crash during the Labor Day holiday weekend. During the last five years, Minnesota averaged five fatalities during this time period. LifeWay Christian Resources is slated to simulcast well-known Bible teacher and best-selling author Beth Moore live from Fort Wayne, Ind., on Saturday, Sept. 13. Faithbridge Church is serving as a host location for the greater Park Rapids area. Living Proof Live, sponsored by Nashville-based publishing company LifeWay Christian Resources, will feature Moore’s dynamic storytelling and passionate Bible teaching. “Beth’s teaching is some of the most profound I’ve ever heard,” Kim Trobee, associate pastor to women at New Life Church in Colorado, said.
Emma Taggart, 12, and Jacob Taggart, 8, classically trained pianists who have delighted the Park Rapids community for the past several years, will appear in concert at the Hubbard United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14. The concert is open to the community. Emma and Jacob have recently returned from Italy, where they both participated in the 2014 Accademia Tadini International Music Festival in Lovere, Italy.
