PARK RAPIDS, Minn. – A Park Rapids woman was seriously injured and four others were hurt in a head-on crash near here Sunday morning. Minnesota State Patrol officials said a Chevy Silverado driven by Ryan Halloran, 31, of Belle Plain, Minn., was headed south on Highway 71 at 11:56 a.m. and turned left onto 230th Street in front of another truck, a Ford pickup, headed northbound. The two trucks collided head-on, officials said.
sTAFF rEPORTS PARK RAPIDS ENTERPRISE Voter turnout was low in Hubbard County but some turned out for a few key races. The Secretary of State reported that 8,757 out of 12,444 Hubbard County voters showed up for Tuesday’s election. That’s about 70 percent. It’s higher than the statewide average of just over 50 percent. Hubbard County Board chair Kathy Grell was defeated in her quest for a second term, losing to retiree Vern Massie by 120 votes. Massie, the county’s retired Solid Waste Superintendent, garnered 998 votes to Grell’s 882.
