The Nevis School Board held an open session Wednesday, May 21 to interview their two remaining candidates in an effort to pick one and begin negotiations on a contract that would eventually replace current superintendent Steve Rassier. By Nick Longworth email@example.com Members of the Park Rapids American Legion often devote many aspects of their life to make sure their fellow brothers in the armed services are able to maintain a normal and happy life once returning home. A special organization within the American Legion, the Honor Guard, also wants to make sure they are properly honored during their passing and other important ceremonies. The Honor Guard is a volunteer organization that works closely with other organizations as a part of the America Legion Post 212.

Park Rapids Memorial Day service The Park Rapids Memorial Day service is at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 26 in the Park Rapids Area High School auditorium. The annual event will begin with prelude music under the direction of Park Rapids High School band director John Cook. Commander Bob Safrotowich will begin the ceremony with the call to order, followed by the advancement of colors by the Park Rapids Legion Color Guard, Marine Corps.
Wednesday, May 21 A North Country Trail hike is scheduled for today, May 21. Meet at 1 p.m. at the trailhead on Highway 4, two miles south of Lake George. The hike progresses east to Highway 91, a distance of 8 miles. This hike passes by the Teepee Lakes, Island Lake and five other lakes. Thursday, May 22 Duplicate bridge will be held Thursdays from 12:30-4 p.m. at the Park Rapids Senior Center. Interested people should contact Sheila Tuhy at 732-3246.
