Albert A. Srnsky, 93, of Osage, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes. He was born May 25, 1915 in to Frank and Anne (Trnka) Srnsky in Goodridge, where he received an eighth grade education in a country school near his home. His family moved to the Tabor/Angus area in the 1930s. He worked on the family farm and on neighboring farms. He married Delvina Boutain on Oct. 29, 1940. The couple settled in the Angus area where they farmed and raised five children.
Daniel Warren Hoff, 73, of Menahga, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009 at home, following a battle against leukemia. He was born June 10, 1935 in Perley to Paul and Ostine (Ystebo) Hoff. He attended the Perley Elementary School and then went on to attend the Borup Public High School. He graduated in 1953. He then attended Moorhead State College in Moorhead. In 1959 he purchased a farm in Green Valley Township, Becker County, south of Park Rapids. On Sept. 5, 1959 he married Margie Lorraine Cummins at First English Lutheran Church in Dorset.
Douglas Amundson, 62, of rural Nimrod, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 in rural Nimrod. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Sebeka United Methodist Church. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka and one our prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Interment: West Lyons Cemetery. Joanne M. (Sitz) Leger, 70, of Big Lake, died Feb. 9, 2009 at her home after a battle against cancer. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Vern; five daughters: Deb (Larry) Christensen, Cyndy (Scott) Huber, Becky (Darryl Lukes) Oines, Molly Leger and Jessie (Tom) Vavra; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her stepson, Jake; an infant son, David; two brothers; two sisters; and her parents, Bernice and Bernie Sitz. Memorial service: Friday, Feb. 13 at St. John Lutheran Church 13045 Fremont Ave NW, Zimmerman. Interment: Private.
Evelyn Henderson Evelyn Mae Henderson, 91, of Park Rapids died Saturday, March 11, 2006 at Heritage Living Center of Park Rapids. She was born Dec. 20, 1914 to Curtis and Clara Almeada (Lemon) Abbott in Carsonville Township, Becker County. She attended grade school at the Linnell Country School. She graduated from Park Rapids High School in the class of 1933 and then received her Teachers Training. She taught in Becker County for a number of years. She married Marvin Henderson Oct. 26, 1940 in Osage. They moved to Omaha, NE.
