Leo Thomas Gregerson, 86, of Park Rapids, Minn and Tucson, Ariz. passed away peacefully at his winter home in Tucson on Friday, February 27, 2009. Leo was born May 12, 1922 in Beltrami County, Minn. to Ingval and Anna (Lone) Gregerson. Leo graduated from the Agricultural High School in Grand Rapids, Minn. He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 until the fall of 1945. Following his honorable discharge, He attended the University of Minnesota. Leo was united in marriage to Dorothy Cook on June 16, 1951 in Sioux City, Iowa and they were blessed with three children: Peggy, Greg and Kevin.
A memorial service for Marjorie "Marge" Helen Kaufman will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 22 at Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids. Rev. Don Bird will be officiating. Linda Szuszitzky will be the organist. Oscar Pederson will sing "Surely the Presence of the Lord" and the "23rd Psalm." Kaufman died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids. Andreas John Brunner, an infant, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born to Ryan Brunner and Rochelle Nelson, of Detroit Lakes, at 2:38 p.m.
Norbert George Holler, 91, of Park Rapids, died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at St. Joseph's Area Health Services in Park Rapids. He was born Dec. 26, 1917 to Agnes (Fox) and John Holler in Becker County. He grew up and attended school in Two Inlets. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in August of 1941 and served until his honorable discharge in February 1946. He married Elsie Robbins Aug. 13, 1946 in Becker County. They had 10 children. He farmed for a number of years in Hubbard and Two Inlets until he gained employment with the Silver Bay Taconite Plant where he worked until his retirement in 1982.
Kenneth R. Schrupp, 69, of Lake Itasca and Rockport, Texas, died Friday, May 8, 2009. He was born Oct. 15, 1939 in Glencoe to Roland and Irene Schrupp. He was employed by Eli Lilly Co. for 14 years and in 1974 purchased a motel in Shawnee, Okla. He operated the motel until he moved to Rockport, Texas in 2000, where he owned and operated the Best Western Inn by the Bay until the fall of 2008.
Katrine Meri Savoie, 38, of Park Rapids, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D. She was born June 16, 1970 to Genevieve (Aho) and Leon Rodney Keranen at St. Joseph's Hospital, Park Rapids. She was baptized July 17, 1970 by her uncle, the late Rev. Toivo Esala, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills. She was confirmed in May 1988. She was a Sunday School teacher and a Vacation Bible School teacher. She graduated from New York Mills High School in 1988. She spent summers as a lifeguard at the New York Mills municipal pool.
Katrine Savoie, 38, of Park Rapids, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D. Memorial service: 4 p.m. Thursday, May 14 at Sebeka Public School. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. today (Wednesday), May 13 at Wevley Funeral Home in Sebeka and one hour prior to the service at the school. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 at Wevley Funeral Home. Inurnment: At a later date.
Gordon "Gordy" Mayberry, 58, of Bemidji, died Thursday, May 7, 2009 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji. Funeral service: 11:30 a.m. today (Wednesday), May 13 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
