The air has cooled, the streets have quieted, and the library summer reading program statistics have been tallied. We are thankful for the generosity of our sponsors: 23 businesses and organizations who donated cash, prizes or treats for special events. 486 people, ages 2-18, registered for our summer reading program and logged more than 7,000 hours of reading time.
Greetings from the Park Rapids Area Library! We've spent months planning special activities and events to make summer even better for our residents and guests, and we want to make sure people know about all the amazing things that are happening at our library this summer.
In a word association game, the top match for "library" would likely be "books." It's a good answer, and accurate. Access to digital materials has not eliminated the demand for paper and ink books, and I don't foresee a future without them. Still, in our ever-shifting society, institutions must constantly evolve and adapt. Today's library is so much more than a book repository. Hopefully, you've been to the library lately to borrow items from our collection: movies, music, audiobooks, large print books, magazines, children's books, etc.
