OKLEE, Minn. — Two snowmobile crashes were reported Saturday, Jan. 27, during the first day of a two-day race through two northwestern Minnesota counties. The Red Lake County Sheriff's Office reported two snowmobile crashes happened between 11 a.m. and noon Saturday within 1 mile of each other. Authorities said one of the drivers was taken by ambulance to a hospital. It was unknown Saturday if the driver in the other accident was injured. No other details, including the conditions of either driver, were reported Saturday.
MOORHEAD — A woman who earlier pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit theft in connection with thousands of dollars worth of collectables stolen from a Barnesville home, including Nazi memorabilia, was sentenced Thursday, Jan. 25, in Clay County District Court to 21 days in jail, time she was given credit for already having served. Amber Hedstrom, 27, of Detroit Lakes, was also ordered to pay fines and fees totaling $1,160, though she will be allowed to satisfy $1,000 of that by doing community service work. Other charges Hedstrom had been facing were dismissed.
LEON TOWNSHIP, Minn.—One person was killed and another injured Saturday, Sept. 23, when a pickup truck rear-ended a horse-drawn buggy near here. The Minnesota State Patrol reported the accident happened at 7:38 p.m. on State Highway 92. A Ford F-350 and a horse-drawn Amish buggy were southbound on the highway when the pickup driver didn't see the other vehicle until it was too late and hit the back of the buggy. A passenger in the buggy, 23-year-old Elsie Yoder, of Clearbrook, Minn., was taken to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo and died from her injuries.
