LONGVILLE -- A small airplane was reported on fire following a crash at the Longville Airport Tuesday afternoon. At 12:53 p.m. the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an airplane crash in Longville, which is approximately an hour southeast of Bemidji. The pilot and passenger, from Denison, Iowa, were transported to the Brainerd Hospital, according to a release from the sheriff's office.

Members of the Becker County and Hubbard County boards of commissioners met Thursday in a joint work session to talk about the possibility of shared services in a few different departments. Both entities came away agreeable to working together. The main topic of discussion for sharing is inmates.
Two people were hurt after a driver apparently fell asleep and ran off the road in Becker County Tuesday night. The Minnesota State Patrol says James Casto, who's 19 and from Hibbing, MN, was driving west on Highway 34 near Park Rapids. Casto fell asleep and his car ran off the road and rolled. The crash happened about 11:30 Tuesday night. Casto and his passenger Hilary Schultz, who's 25 and from Detroit Lakes, MN, were both hurt. Troopers say their injuries are not life-threatening.
North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven and three other senators on Tuesday introduced an act they say would streamline energy infrastructure projects like the Keystone XL by eliminating the presidential permit requirement when crossing the Canadian or Mexican border, according to a release from Hoeven’s office.
