Lee / Grand Forks Herald GRAND FORKS – One roommate pulled the other from their burning house early Sunday near the University of North Dakota campus and got his heart beating again, according to family members of Matt Heisler, who they say is “fighting for his life” in a Minneapolis hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said Heisler remained in critical condition late Monday. The fire started from food left cooking on the stove, Fire Department officials said Monday. Heisler, 21, had been home for some time in the house at 2029 1st Ave.

Jeanette Ozuna, 20, was charged Friday in Cass County District Court with felony Class C abuse or neglect of a child.

Rachel Downer, 22, was arrested Friday and appeared in court Monday to face a second-degree manslaughter charge in the hypothermia death of her cousin, 6-year-old Mercedes Mayfield.
