An Ogema woman faces felony charges of second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter in the death of a man found lying on the roadway in Maple Grove Township Friday night. Jessica Marie Kilde, 33, of 46420 Highway 34, Ogema is accused in the death of her boyfriend, Richard Allen Baity, 41, also of rural Ogema.

Ya gotta love Minnesota’s latest designer license plate that features an image of the state’s iconic moose. The plate is the eighth in a series of Critical Habitat license plates offered by the state, with fees from purchases going to buy conservation land and for wildlife research. The fee for motorists who want the special plate is $30 above the normal yearly license plate fee. If past habitat plates are any guide, the moose plate will be a hit among Minnesotans, and lot of money for the threatened moose population will be raised. Moose numbers are dwindling.

The incident started about 11:50 p.m. when a citizen called into the sheriff's office to report poor driving behavior. A deputy located the vehicle a short time later on County Road 23 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
