By Don Davis Forum News Service Minnesota's minimum wage is about to rise. After the House passed 71-60 a higher minimum wage Thursday, it heads to Gov. Mark Dayton, who is expected to sign it into law. "I think this is a great trade off, minimum wage for a better life for a great many people in this state," Rep. Tim Mahoney, D-St. Paul, said.
A veteran employee of a Bagley, Minn., wood manufacturing plant was killed early today when he was caught in the pulley of a large industrial-size door as it was opened. Police Chief Larry Peterson said an official of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration was expected to be on the scene this afternoon to investigate the incident.

BEMIDJI -- An inmate in the Beltrami County Jail assaulted two corrections officers this morning. Nakayland James Yost, 20, of Laporte inflicted minor injuries on Corrections Sgt. Robert Exner and officer Anthony Olson at approximately 9:06 a.m., according to a release from the Beltrami County. Exner was transported to Sanford Emergency Room where he was treated and released for his injuries.

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. - The home of a Devils Lake man killed in a traffic accident Sunday night near Buxton, N.D., may have been burglarized over the weekend. The family of Monte Allen Armentrout discovered possible signs of forced entry on Monday when they went to the house, according to the Devils Lake Police Department. “The residence was believed to have been burglarized Sunday night,” Devils Lake Police Detective Sue Schwab said. “There are signs of possible forced entry.
