It is all in the interpretation. When it comes to winter driving, one person’s idea of “good” road conditions might be another person’s “difficult” condition. After hearing such complaints the past few years, the Minnesota Department of Transportation this year has created new terms to describe winter driving conditions on state roads. A woman robbed a downtown gas station here on Thursday morning in a rare daylight stick-up, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police say. At about 11 a.m., a woman in her 20s later identified as being Native American walked into the Tesoro at 104 8th St. S. and displayed a silver-colored weapon in her left hand, Lt. Tory Jacobson said in a news release.

The Light in the Window campaign entails purple light bulbs being lit near windows to shed light on the problem of domestic violence “in a quiet lovely way,” said Mary Thysell, sexual assault services coordinator at Safe Shelter. The lights are purple because it is the color that is associated with domestic violence.
