By Sarah Volpenheim / Grand Forks Herald A Crookston judge sentenced a 23-year-old man to two and a half years in prison last week for raping a co-worker while she continuously told him “no” last year. Jacob Miles Solberg, of Erskine, Minn., was convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in state district court in Crookston and sentenced to two and a half years in prison, with credit for 44 days spent in jail. The victim reported the assault to law enforcement the day it happened in June 2013, according to court papers.

A woman who originally claimed to have been stabbed by an ex-boyfriend is facing charges after admitting the wound was self-inflicted. Bemidji man accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl amended his not guilty plea to guilty Monday in Beltrami County District Court. Matthew August Loos, 28, pleaded not guilty in June to a felony first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge for an incident that took place in May 2013. According to court documents, Loos sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl while she was sleeping. The assault included penetration. A first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine.
