Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officials are warning parents a mix of warm and cold weather this season has created a serious danger in the ice over bodies of water in the state. Parents are urged to keep an eye on children who are visiting friends and family near bodies of water, as the mix of warm and cold this season has made for inconsistencies in the ice cover. Last winter, from November to April, three people died in the state after falling through the ice.

The body of a missing Bagley man has been found. Mark Allen Ness, 49, was reported missing Nov. 22. His body was found later that day by his family and law enforcement in a wooded area near his home. No foul play is suspected, the cause of death has not been determined at this time. The Bagley Police Department, Clearwater Coroner’s Office and Clearwater County Sheriff’s Offices are investigating the case.

A 22-year-old West Fargo man was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly assaulting his wife and biting off a portion of a taxi driver’s nose, according to a release from the West Fargo Police Department. Officers responded to a disturbance call at approximately 3 a.m. to 1036 2nd Street East in West Fargo. When officers arrived they learned Dominique Melax Martinez, 22, and his wife, Erin Joyce Martinez, 21, took a taxi ride from Fargo to their home at an apartment complex in West Fargo.

Police arrested a Bismarck man last week on allegations he raped a member of his family at their East Grand Forks home over several years when she was 15 to 18 years old, according to court records. Duane Todd Fettig, 43, was scheduled to make his first appearance in Minnesota’s 9th District Court in Crookston on Nov. 14 on four felony charges, including incest. The 22-year-old victim reported the abuse to Bismarck police in April, who then notified the East Grand Forks Police Department.
