Provisions of the Affordable Care Act include the requirement that people who aren’t covered by their employers or some other plan, including veterans’ coverage, must obtain health insurance. The penalty this year for individuals is $95 or 1 percent of annual income, whichever is higher.

Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that on March 10, 2014 at approximately 6:39PM the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a house fire in the 2700 block of 36th The Pine River Fire Department was dispatched and arrived to find the home fully engulfed in fire. No injuries were reported. The fire remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, Pine River Fire Department and the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
