WALKER—Kid Rock will headline Moondance Jam 27 in Walker in summer 2018. According to a press release, Kid Rock will headline the July 20 performances of the annual three-day festival, which runs July 19-21. Kid Rock will be his Greatest Show on Earth tour to promote his new album "Sweet Southern Sugar." An artist who has bridged the hip hop, rock and country genres, Kid Rock first hit the national music scene in 1998 with his "Devil Without a Cause" album. BECKER COUNTY, Minn. - Two Park Rapids, Minn. men have been charged with felonies after allegedly selling cattle they did not own. Bret Ricardo Glatzmaier, 49, of rural Park Rapids has been charged in Becker County District Court with two felony counts of rustling and cattle theft, and Christopher Charles Strehlow, 31, of Park Rapids has been charged with one felony count of rustling and cattle theft.
BRAINERD, Minn.—Eight deer ventured out onto the ice of South Long Lake southeast of Brainerd on Saturday morning. Three fell through the ice and died and four were able to walk off the lake on their own. The eighth deer, too, fell through the ice, but was rescued by lake residents.
STAPLES, Minn. — The 17-year-old boy who was driving a horse and buggy that was hit by a semi-truck in northern Todd County has died, the Minnesota State Patrol reported Friday, Dec. 1. David Miller of Staples was driving the horse and buggy west on Highway 210 between Hewitt and Staples on Thursday. A semi-truck driven by Douglas Calkins, 60, of Deerwood, also was westbound and rear-ended the horse and buggy.
CASS COUNTY, Minn. — Three individuals wanted in connection with an ongoing homicide investigation have been located by authorities. The Cass County Sheriff's Office shared on its Facebook page the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 28, that three people are in custody and cooperating with an investigation surrounding a fatal shooting Sunday, Nov. 12, in Cass Lake, Minn.
FLORIDA—A Minnesota man who is wanted for federal drug charges led police on a high-speed chase this weekend in Florida. Authorities say the man responsible has an arrest warrant issued from Moorhead. Thirty-five-year-old Ryan Swartley from Park Rapids is being held on a charge of aggravated fleeing, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He is also charged with violating probation after leading police on a pursuit through Panama City Beach on Saturday. Authorities say the speeds reached over 90 miles an hour.
WEST FARGO — A northeast Minnesota woman has been arrested after a traffic stop led to the discovery of more than 280 pounds of marijuana, according to the West Fargo Police Department. On Tuesday morning, Nov. 21, West Fargo police, in a joint effort with the North Dakota Highway Patrol and Stutsman County Sheriff's Office, made a traffic stop on Interstate 94 in West Fargo near the 45th Street exit.
ST. PAUL — A federal judge sentenced sentenced a Minnesota man to more than 10 years in prison Monday, Nov. 20, for defrauding investors in a housing project in the Bakken oil patch. Ronald David Johnson, 51, was sentenced to 126 months — 10½ years — in prison for the scheme, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Minnesota. In June, a jury convicted the Corcoran, Minn., man on nine counts of wire fraud and one count of money laundering.
WALKER, Minn.—A 19-year-old Pine River man, who admitted in Cass County District Court in Walker to sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl, will be on supervised probation for the next 10 years.
A deer farm in Crow Wing County in north-central Minnesota continues on quarantine for chronic wasting disease, while no further infected cases were found in the most recent batch of tests.
