Dianna Schwenke of Nevis is the little girl pictured in this photo from the May 1944 "Woman's Home Companion" magazine. Her mother, Elise Duncan, wore her best dress for the occasion as she posed in the basement where the bounty of her victory garden was stored. The magazine will be on display, along with many other items, at the World War II program at First Lutheran in Akeley on Saturday, July 21.
