Robert Wallick, Darlene’s husband, received the above telegram from his parents about the death of his eldest brother, John. “I got chills when I read the telegram,” said librarian Jodi Schultz. “At first, I thought this was the actual piece of paper that a mother held in her hand as she discovered that her worst fear had become reality.” The photo is of U.S. Army Corporal Arizona Perkins, John Wallick’s best friend.

About 40 community members, representing a broad range of library users and non-users, participated in the library’s “visioning/planning retreat” Saturday. The Park Rapids Library has engaged the services of Library Strategies, a library consulting firm form St. Paul, to design and execute a facility needs assessment and comprehensive planning effort. Library gets ‘playful’ makeover to engage young minds

The Park Rapids City Council approved this week the library seek bids to pay for a needs assessment study.
