Strong serving sparks Tigers past Blackduck

Ashley Pyburn and Cora Umthun served seven aces while Kia Heide pounded down 11 kills as the Nevis volleyball team coasted to a Northland Conference win at Blackduck Thursday night.

Montana Baker and Madison Neyens served two aces each as the Tigers served 13 aces and had 35 kills in a 25-15, 25-5, 25-6 victory. Pyburn added eight kills and Andrea Dudley tallied 25 set assists. Sadie Thurner led the defense with 15 digs as Nevis improved to 2-0 in conference matches and 6-4 overall.

Blackduck fell to 0-5 in conference matches and 1-7 overall. Walker-Hackensack-Akeley and Clearbrook-Gonvick are also 2-0 in the conference.
