Ottertail Central's boys and Park Christian's girls captured team titles at the Section 6A golf tournament.

OTC followed a 348 during the first round at Perham's Lakeside Golf Course on May 31 with a 337 during the final 18 holes on June 1 for a two-day total of 685. Pine River-Backus was second with a 690. Joe Stetz of Pelican Rapids earned medalist honors by following a 76 with an 82 for a two-day score of 158 to lead the list of individual state qualifiers.

Nevis carded a 525 on the first day behind Dylen Spain-Brist's 98, Tom Aman's 135, Jack Johnson's 138 and Hunter Wright's 154. Spain-Brist tied for 13th overall to miss advancing to the second day by one shot as none of the Tigers advanced to the second day.

PR-B (351), WHAL (365) and Pelican Rapids (360) earned the other team spots in the finals. Park Christian (371), Rothsay (392), Underwood (400) and Breckenridge (449) also missed advancing to the final round as only the top-four team scores and top-12 individuals not on those four teams advanced. Cass Lake, Frazee and Lake Park-Audubon had incomplete teams.

In the girls tournament, Park Christian followed a 390 on May 31 with a 384 on June 1 to claim the title with a 774. OTC was second with an 800 while Park Christian's Emily Doeden claimed medalist honors with rounds of 89 and 88 for a 177.

OTC carded a 398, Pelican Rapids carded a 435 and Frazee had a 443 on May 31 to qualify for the final 18 holes. PR-B (455), Pillager (474) and WHAL (475) missed advancing while Nevis, LP-A and Rothsay had incomplete teams.

Both of Nevis golfers advanced to the second day. Maddie Mitchell followed a 98 with a 101 for a two-day total of 199 while Kaylee Halik carded rounds of 117 and 105 for a 222. Mitchell just missed qualifying for state as the No. 6 individual, two shots out of the No. 5 spot.

"The big highlight was that Maddie was the sixth-place individual and missed the cut for state by two strokes," said Nevis head coach Olaf Netteberg. "Maddie was in up until the last two scores went on the board. She was so close."

The winning teams and top-five individual finishers not on those teams will compete in the state Class A tournament, which will be held June 13-14 at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker.
