Tigers defeat Red Lake, improve record to 8-3
Jack DeWulf and Adam Thompson both went 3 for 4 at the plate in leading the Nevis baseball team to a 17-1 five-inning win over Red Lake Tuesday at Nevis.
The Tigers broke the game open by scoring four times in the second inning, four times in the third and eight times in the fourth to end this Northland Conference game early via the 10-run rule.
DeWulf drove in three runs while Thompson scored four times, stole four bases and drove in a pair. Jack Landquist went 2 for 2 and Andrew Dudley went 2 for 3 with two runs. Ethan Tauber also scored twice and had two RBI. Derek Lindow and Michael Landquist scored a run and had an RBI each as Nevis finished with 15 hits.
Dillon McGee picked up the win, walking two and striking out five in three scoreless innings. Luke DeWulf gave up a run on two hits in the fourth while Lindow struck out three in the fifth as those three combined on a two-hitter.
Nevis improved to 4-1 in the conference and 8-3 overall while Red Lake fell to 0-3.
