Nick Lopez coasted to a straight-set win at No. 4 singles in Park Rapids' 5-2 loss to Detroit Lakes Thursday.

Despite falling short in a 5-2 loss, the Park Rapids boys tennis team showed improvement during a Mid-State Conference dual against Detroit Lakes Thursday at the Depot Courts.

Scott Smith prevailed in a three-set match at No. 1 singles while Nick Lopez coasted in straight sets at No. 4 singles to account for the Panthers' two wins.

Mitch Fossen lost in three sets at No. 3 singles and Josh Johnson and Iain Wallace lost in three sets at No. 2 doubles. Jaden Olson and Jackson Kimball battled in a close two-set loss at No. 3 doubles as the Panthers fell to 1-2 in conference matches and 1-7 overall.
