Joey Bergquist's 56 saves helped Northern Lakes defeat the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team and gain a share of first place in the Mid-State Conference standings.

The win lifted the Lightning to 3-1 in the conference standings to tie Detroit Lakes for the top spot. Northern Lakes edged the Panthers 3-2 earlier in the season. Park Rapids fell to 3-2 in conference games.

Park Rapids held a 23-11 advantage in shots during a scoreless first period.

Benson Ringle's slapshot at the 8:39 mark gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead before Aspen Florey's goal just before the end of the second period tied the game at 1-1.

Hunter Leslie scored the game-winner at the 8:36 mark before Ben Moe's power-play goal into an empty net with 24 seconds to play concluded the scoring.

Park Rapids goalie Cody Brumbaugh made 38 saves as the Panthers fell to 6-10. Northern Lakes improved to 9-9-1.
