Park Rapids girls card 374 for lowest round at Mid-State Conference tourney since 1981

Allison Walsh rolled a putt toward the cup on the No. 15 green during Monday's Mid-State Conference meet at Headwaters Country Club.

After posting their best score of the season at Staples last Saturday, the members of the Park Rapids girls golf team followed by posting their best score at the Mid-State Conference meet in three decades.

The Panthers carded a 376 to finish eighth at last Saturday's 18-team Staples-Motley Invitational. That was the Panthers' best round of the season.

On Monday, the Panthers topped that mark by shooting a 374 to finish fourth at the Mid-State Conference meet at Headwaters Country Club. The 374 was the Panthers' best score at the conference meet since winning the Mid-State title with a 360 in 1981.

Leading the Panthers with all-conference honorable mention scores were Katie Kristofferson and Mariena Dearstyne with 90s. Hannah Williams carded a 94 and Katie Walsh shot a 100 to round out the Panthers' team score.

Detroit Lakes won the conference title with a 331, led by Trisa Hutchinson's 78. Joining Hutchinson as all-conference golfers were Staples-Motley's Emily Israelson (81), Detroit Lakes' Kate Smith and Courtney Hedstrom (84s), Pequot Lakes' Savannah Stone (84), Detroit Lakes' Matty Tschider (85) and Staples-Motley's Kristen Schneider (85). Detroit Lakes won the conference title last season.

Panthers card a 376 at Staples

Kristofferson's 87 and Williams' 88 led the Panthers at the Staples-Motley Invitational.

Dearstyne's 94 and Tonya Melott's 107 rounded out the Panthers' 376 team score.

Detroit Lakes led the 17-team field with a 332, 10 shots ahead of Elk River. Becker's Kourtney Williams earned medalist honors with a 76.

Panthers take 3rd at Warroad

Williams' 96, Kristofferson's 98, Dearstyne's 107 and Katie Walsh's 110 led the Panthers to a 411 and third place at last Friday's Warroad Invitational.

Emily Hallie earned medalist honors with an 85 in leading Roseau to the team title with a 365. Crookston was second in this six-team meet with a 400.

Warroad is the site for this year's North Section 8AA tournament, which will be held next Thursday.
