Panthers skate by Devils for second win in a row

A four-goal first period carried the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hacken-sack-Akeley girls hockey team to a 5-1 victory over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/ Wadena-Deer Creek Thursday night at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.

Goals by Hannah Williams, Brittany Floyd, Jessica Gapinski and Mc-Kenna Brand gave the Panthers a 4-0 lead.

Brand assisted on Williams' goal at the 13:24 mark, Ashley Thelen assisted on Floyd's goal at the 8:49 mark, Tostenson set up Gapinski's goal at the 4:52 mark, and Gapinski and Tostenson assisted on Brand's goal at the 3:34 mark. The Panthers held a 21-7 advantage in shots in the opening period.

After the Blue Devils scored in the second period, Gapinski's unassisted goal at the 6:35 mark of the third period ended the scoring. The Panthers held an 18-6 edge in shots in the final period.

Goalie Bailey Moore had 20 saves for the Panthers, who improved to 3-7-2.
