Four Panthers receive Mid-State golf honors

Drew Hilmanowski, Olivia Wallace and Sebela Valverde-Andrade missed all-conference honors by one stroke as the Park Rapids girls golf team missed breaking the school record by five shots at Monday's Mid-State Conference meet at Headwaters Golf Club.

Hilmanowski, Wallace and Valverde-Andrade all carded 88s as the Panthers claimed runner-up honors with a season-best 359. All three earned all-conference honorable mention honors. Olivia McDonald's 95 rounded out Park Rapids' team score, which just missed the school record of 354 set in 2012. Madison Johnson also carded a round under 100 with a 96.

Detroit Lakes won the conference title for the ninth year in a row with a 318 while Staples-Motley was third with a 363.

Pequot Lakes' Alex Stone claimed medalist honors with a 75 on the par-72 course. Also earning all-conference honors by placing in the top-seven spots were Detroit Lakes' Maddie Herzog (76), Abby Schramel (77), Anna Cihak (82), Lauren Tschider (83) and Shelby Busker (87) and Staples-Motley's Bo Erholtz (83).

In the boys meet, Bjorn Jorgenson carded an 80 for honorable mention honors in leading Park Rapids to third place with a season-best 340. Tate Usher's 83, Cody Dravis' 88 and Jackson Leckner's 89 rounded out the team score. Luke Kosel (90) and Justin Dravis (91) completed the Panthers' varsity.

Detroit Lakes won the boys title for the 24th consecutive season with a 302 while Pequot Lakes took second with a 326. DL's Wyatt Blomseth was the medalist with a 72 and was followed by teammate Isaac Cihak's 74. Also earning all-conference honors were Staples-Motley's Beck Erholtz with a 76, Pequot Lakes' Hunter Clement's with a 77, and the DL trio of Ben Unruh, Ryan Paskey and Aaron Schnathorst with 78s.

Girls team scores: Detroit Lakes 318, Park Rapids 359, Staples-Motley 363, Pequot Lakes 368, Wadena-Deer Creek 371, Crosby-Ironton 436.
