Badurek stops 23 shots as DL edges Panthers

  Goalie Veronica Badurek made 23 saves for her first shutout of the season in leading Detroit Lakes to a 2-0 victory over the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team Tuesday night at Detroit Lakes.

     Emily Seebold scored in the first period and set up Chandra Johnson for the game’s other goal in the third period as the Lakers defeated Park Rapids for the second time this season. Detroit Lakes topped the Panthers 3-1 on Nov. 26.

     Neither team capitalized on penalties as the Panthers went 0-for-7 and Detroit Lakes went 0-for-6 on the power play.

     The Lakers held a 27-23 advantage in shots as Park Rapids goalie Shania Johnson finished with 25 saves.

     Detroit Lakes improved to 3-3-2 on the season while the Panthers fell to 4-6-1.
