Raph keys PR-B's victory over Braves

Brady Raph's 21 points sparked Pine River-Backus to a 61-53 win over the Menahga boys basketball team Thursday night at Pine River.

Torry Hirschey (15), Nick Ackerman (10) and Nathaniel Wosmek (10) also scored in double figures for the Tigers, who trailed 27-26 at the half. The win lifted PR-B to 6-5 on the season.

Tristan Aho scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds while Jonah Howard added 10 points and seven rebounds for the Braves, who fell to 5-8 overall. Zach Floyd led Menahga with five assists and had four steals while Charlie Hodge tallied five steals. The Braves shot 28 percent from the field, including making only 6 of 27 3-point attempts.

W-DC tops Braves

Wadena-Deer Creek had four players score in double figures to spark a 66-58 Park Region Conference victory over the Braves at Menahga on Jan. 9.

Ryan Anderson's 14 points, Bereket Loer's 12 points, Jonathan Pantages' 12 points, and Noah Ross' 10 points and 15 rebounds led the Wolverines. W-DC, which led 34-26 at the half, improved to 3-1 in the conference and 5-6 overall. The Wolverines hit 9 of 19 3-point attempts.

Aho's 20 points and Floyd's 11 points led Menahga, which made 11 of 31 3-pointers. The Braves fell to 3-3 in conference games.
