Julia Renner, Abby Fischer and Hannah Williams scored goals as the Park Rapids-Men-ahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team defeated Northern Lakes 3-1 Thursday night at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.

Kendra Dresow started a breakaway goal by Julia Renner as the Panthers took a 1-0 lead at the 5:41 mark of the first period.

After a scoreless second period, Jessie O'Hern set up Fischer at the 2:19 mark of the third period to give Park Rapids a 2-0 lead.

After Mariah Reed's goal at the 9:43 mark cut the gap to 2-1, Brooke Jerger and Ally Vaudrin set up Williams for an insurance goal at the 13:29 mark.

Goalie Shania Johnson made 27 saves for the Panthers, who held a 45-28 advantage in shots. The win lifted Park Rapids' record to 5-1 against Mid-State Conference opponents and 11-8 overall.

Northern Lakes, which is coached by Park Rapids graduate Kristen Harsha, fell to 3-1 against conference foes and 10-8 overall.

Park Rapids' game at East Grand Forks scheduled for Saturday was postponed and rescheduled for next Monday (Jan. 28) at East Grand Forks at 5 p.m.
