Moren scores three goals as Panthers go 0-1-2 at Fergus Falls

Frank Moren scored a goal in all three games as the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team went 0-1-2 at the Fergus Falls tournament.

Moren had the Panthers' lone goal in a 6-1 loss to West Fargo on Thursday, scored the game-tying goal in a 3-3 tie with Fergus Falls on Friday, and scored the lone goal in a 1-1 tie with Monticello on Saturday.

The Panthers are now 2-4-2 on the season.

West Fargo wins tourney opener

Six different players scored in leading West Fargo past the Panthers.

Lucas Miller, Blake Nelson, Derrick LaCoe and Grant Ellenson scored as West Fargo jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Moren scored a power-play goal at the 9:59 mark of the second period. Noah MacPherson and Jamie Stewart assisted on that goal.

Brett Lessard and Jake Wasem scored in the third period as West Fargo sealed the win.

Tyler Berginski had three assists as the Packers improved to 4-5. Goalie Cody Brumbaugh finished with 38 saves for the Panthers, who were outshot 44-17.

Panthers rally for 3-3 tie

Luke Jaeger and Moren scored within a span of 1:31 midway through third period to rally the Panthers to a 3-3 tie with Fergus Falls.

Casey Ward's power-play goal in the first period and Sam Rausch's goal 39 seconds into the second period gave Fergus Falls a 2-0 lead. MacPherson closed the gap to 2-1 with a goal at the 10:36 mark. Ian Johnson and Kiefer Miller assisted on that goal. Zach Tarczon's goal gave Fergus Falls a 3-1 edge.

Connor Kennedy set up Jaeger at the 9:59 mark and Moren followed with the game-tying goal at the 11:30 mark. Cody Koebernick and Stewart assisted on that goal. Brumbaugh helped the Panthers settle for a tie by stopping all 15 shots he faced in the third period.

Brumbaugh finished with 38 saves as the Panthers were outshot 41-27 in the game. The tie gave Fergus Falls a 5-2-3 record.

Panthers, Monticello settle for tie

Moren's unassisted goal in the second period led the Panthers to another tie.

Moren scored at the 7:34 mark of the second period before Monticello's Oliver Winsor answered at the 10:45 mark.

Brumbaugh made 24 saves for the Panthers, who held a 26-25 edge in shots.
